I heart Gearheads
June 13, 2007
Don’t credit me. Don’t credit Troy Unrau. Credit Troy Unrau’s cousin. No, not that one. The other one. Yeah, the one that caused all the problems at that family reunion. The Great Unrau Watermelon Debacle of 1998? Yep, that one.
The term “Gearhead” has now been repurposed to our needs. For those not familiar, a gearhead is a fairly common term to refer to someone that is mechanically inclined, typically with cars. Someone who’s a car enthusiast and knows how they work inside and out – an expert. Someone who can tell you why the catalytic converter on a 69 Chevelle is the pinnacle of automotive excellence. Someone who’s not afraid to get dirty, and would rather change your spark plugs on the spot rather than just tell you how or refer you to a book.
And now it’s someone who knows and loves KDE. Tee-shirts that say “My boyfriend/girlfriend is a total gearhead” with a KDE gear set or even the outline of a head with a gear in it. Get it – wheels are turning with KDE folks – get it? Ok, I’ll shut up soon.
Screw putting a penguin on the hood of a car for the Indy 500, going to the Indy 500 and saying that KDE people are “gearheads”, now that’ll get some KDE converts. Troy’s cousin ™, I give you a virtual high-five. ” ~% Here’s to you Mr. KDE Nickname Maker Upper… %~ “
